Glad you're here.
Hey there, I'm Nicole! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked in behavioral health spaces for over 10 years. I completed both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the College of William & Mary.
MY SPECIALTY
My clients typically come to me with lifelong struggles with perfectionism, people-pleasing, or the primary coping skill of "sucking it up" to get through life. If this describes you, then I'm guessing your habits have led to some success... yet they're failing you now. Maybe you're not able to feel proud of those accomplishments, are struggling to keep pace, are feeling empty, or you don't have a sense of who YOU truly are.
These patterns often coincide with symptoms of depression, anxiety, and OCD. It's reinforced by the low self-esteem and at times, underlying trauma. I can confidently say that your life can be better than this.
MY PROCESS
Let's take the sky view of your patterns and how you got here, and let's figure out how the future can be different. Chances are that we need to peel back a few layers (and the perfectionist tendency to mask for others) to get to the core issues. I incorporate a variety of treatment approaches, including ACT, DBT skills, ERP for OCD, CBT, mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing and Somatic Experiencing. If you're aren't sure what you need, no worries. Over time, we will narrow it down to what works.
I consider myself to be warm, affirming, and able to meet you right where you're at (important to the process). I strike a balance between acknowledging what you want to change and finding self compassion. I like taking an interactive approach (think virtual whiteboards or YouTube videos) to reinforce concepts and keep it fresh. Ideally, you will come away with a sense of purpose, tools in your toolbox, and hope for the future.
*Note, I am only able to accept insurance for Virginia residents. I am not in network with Medicare.*
